From April 9th to May 2nd, during business hours, the Cultural Center of El Corte Inglés Santiago de Compostela hosts the exhibition “Corners” by artist Rosalía Beguer de Peón.
In “Corners,” Rosalía brings together a selection of watercolors that reflect places linked to her life. The artist describes these works as a way of recovering memories that have marked different stages of her life.
The exhibition includes works that represent:
- - Tower of Hercules: a symbol of Galicia and a tribute to her emotional connection with this land.
- - Night Tree: one of her first watercolor drawings, imbued with personal memory.
- - Moon Among Trees: a serene scene where the moon and stars seem to converse.
- - Street in Hondarribia: a special place after numerous trips to the Basque Country.
- - Church of Santa María Salomé: a visual stroll through the Old Town of Santiago.
- - Cathedral of Santiago: a Galician emblem associated with experiences accumulated over the years.
- - Hondarribia National Parador: a place of frequent stays and family memories.
- Balcony in Granada: inspired by annual trips with her children, a tradition she continues.
- Grandparents' House: an evocative image of her childhood in Catalonia.
- Vía-Crucis Station: discovered during her time in Gondomar (Pontevedra).
The Artist's Career
Rosalía Beguer de Peón has always painted. She trained at the Massana School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, where she specialized in pencil drawing and portraiture. Her personal journey took her to California, where she returned to oil painting. Later, in Madrid, she continued working with pencil and pastel, using her own family as models.
Since 1997, she has lived in Galicia and, since 2002, in Santiago de Compostela, where she began her watercolor training. Now retired, she dedicates her time to discovering new places and representing them with sensitivity and detail.
This is her fifth exhibition at Ámbito Cultural Santiago, following “Lights and Shadows” (2019), “History Written in Stone and Embraces” (2022), “Us” (2023), and “Miscellaneous” (2024).
We invite you to discover these spaces filled with memory and emotion!
