Built 1,500 years ago, as a consequence of the Christianization of the Iberian Peninsula, the Early Christian Basilica of Vega del Mar is one of the most brilliant archaeological examples of early Christianity.
As a rural, sacred, and funerary complex, it reveals the process of monumentalization of the territory following the collapse of the territorial model of the villages, while its material records allow us to approach a genuine period in which the new faith became a transformative element of the ancient world and an ideological-cultural reference that would affect daily life at the time.
The event will be presented by Mª Carmen Íñiguez Sánchez, coordinator of the series, archaeologist at CIS Arqueología.
