On Thursday, 12 November, at 7:30 pm, El Corte Inglés Málaga will host the screening of 'The Painted Veil' (1934), directed by Richard Boleslawski and starring Greta Garbo as Katrin, Herbert Marshall as Walter Fane, George Brent, Warner Oland, Jean Hersholt, Bodil Rosing and Katharine Alexandre.

The screenplay was written by John Meehan, Salka Viertel and Edith Fitzgerald, based on the novel by William Somerset Maugham. The film features cinematography by William Daniels and music by Herbert Stothart, and has a running time of 85 minutes.

The screening will be introduced by Dr Lourdes Jiménez Fernández.

Sinopsys

The story follows Katrin, a young woman who marries bacteriologist Walter Fane without being in love with him. When they move to Hong Kong, their relationship becomes increasingly strained, leading Katrin into an affair that will have far-reaching consequences.

Against the backdrop of an epidemic, the characters are forced to confront their choices, their feelings and the meaning of love and forgiveness.
