To mark the Lantern Festival, which brings the Chinese New Year celebrations to a close, the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia presents master calligrapher Adan Liu. The expert will give a demonstration in which he will transcribe the names of those attending into Chinese characters on a calendar, as part of the celebration that marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year, this time the Year of the Fire Horse. 

Calligraphy is the art of writing characters. In Chinese calligraphy, there are four essential tools known as ‘the four treasures of the desk’: the brush, paper, ink and inkstone. Patience and delicacy in tracing the characters are key to this ancient art and must always accompany the ‘four treasures’.
