“Oxígeno” (Alfaguara, 2026) is “the book I never wanted to write,” the account of the minutes in which life slipped away from them, of the months that followed the accident, and of the years that came before it all, when they fell in love and began building a life together without imagining it could end at any moment.
Marta Jiménez Serrano —“one of the most talented and intelligent authors of her generation” (according to Laura Barrachina)— brings this year’s Reading Club to a close. Together with writer and cycle coordinator Rafael Caunedo, she will talk about her latest novel.

About Marta Jiménez Serrano
Marta Jiménez Serrano (Madrid, 1990) holds a degree in Hispanic Philology and a master’s in Literary Studies and Modern Letters. Her first book, the poetry collection La edad ligera (2021), received a runner‑up award in the 2020 Adonáis Prize. She later published the novel Los nombres propios (2021), finalist for the Premier Roman de Chambéry and selected by El Cultural as one of the best debuts of the year. Her short‑story collection No todo el mundo (2023) won the 2023 Nollegiu Prize and was a finalist for both the Madrid Booksellers’ Prize and the Open Bank–Vanity Fair Literature Prize, as well as being chosen as one of the books of the year by outlets such as Babelia, Cadena SER and RTVE.
She has also contributed to the collective books Querida Theresa (2022), El gran libro de los pájaros (2023) and Una navidad así (2024). In 2022 she received a residency grant at the Cité des Arts in Paris. Her narrative work has been translated into Italian.
She has worked as a columnist for La Lectura (El Mundo) and as a contributor to the TV programme Ovejas eléctricas (TVE). She currently hosts Puro cuento, the literary programme of Carne Cruda. She lives in Madrid, where she teaches creative writing.
Oxígeno (Alfaguara, 2026) is her latest book.
