About Rafael Lechowski
Although his style—a rare hybrid of poetry, jazz, rap, and slam—is increasingly difficult to define, Rafael Lechowski is considered one of the most important Spanish-language lyricists in his genre: his voice resonates ever more strongly, exerting a notable influence in both Spain and Latin America.
He debuted at just 17 years old and was named a promising young talent in Spanish art by the newspaper El País in 2004. His musical works include Donde duele, inspira (Where It Hurts, It Inspires), El canto de amor a la vida (The Song of Love to Life), and Quarcissus: el arte de desamar (Quarcissus: The Art of Unloving), the latter of which has been hailed by critics as a significant event in 21st-century Spanish music and literature. His most recent publication is the book The Healthy Art of Oviedo Street (An Empirical-Poetic Study of Life and the World), released at the beginning of 2022. His artistic vision is marked by a concern for Being, the anxiety of modern times, religiosity without God, and love as a vital meaning.
