Exhibition “Santiago D. C.” by Manuel Quiñoy Zas in Santiago de Compostela

The exhibition “Santiago D.C.” by the Santiago de Compostela-born painter Manuel Quiñoy Zas is being held from May 7th to 30th at the Sala of Ámbito Cultural of El Corte Inglés in Santiago de Compostela. The exhibition brings together a carefully curated selection of oil paintings on canvas, dedicated to the city's most representative spaces, symbols, and urban landscapes.

Through a realistic and hyperrealistic style, Manuel Quiñoy offers a personal vision of Santiago de Compostela, where the historical architecture, squares, streets, and the Cathedral take center stage. His painting is distinguished by its attention to detail, light, and atmosphere, inviting the viewer to embark on a leisurely and contemplative journey.

“Santiago D.C.” is not a literal photographic reproduction, but rather an artistic interpretation that connects with the memory, identity, and emotion of the city, making it a highlight of Santiago de Compostela's cultural program.

During the exhibition, the artist will be present in the gallery every day from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., offering the public the opportunity to experience his work and creative process firsthand.

We invite you to visit the exhibition and contemplate Santiago with calm, light, and emotion.

Manuel Quiñoy Zas – Realist and Hyperrealist Painter

Manuel Quiñoy Zas (Santiago de Compostela, 1958) is a self-taught painter specializing in realism and hyperrealism, with a career marked by discipline, observation, and technical rigor. He began painting in oils at the age of 14 and has developed his own unique style, influenced by great masters of art history such as Diego Velázquez, Johannes Vermeer, Salvador Dalí, and Antonio López.

His work maintains a close connection with Santiago de Compostela, a city that becomes the central focus of many of his series. Quiñoy works on each painting for several weeks, paying special attention to light and atmosphere, and in many cases finishes the works en plein air, in the very spaces depicted, thus reinforcing the authenticity and connection with the environment.

Currently, the artist continues to develop a series dedicated entirely to Santiago, exploring the relationship between architecture, memory, and emotion, with the aim of sharing his artistic evolution in new cultural spaces. Manuel Quiñoy defines himself as an artist in constant evolution, who conceives of painting as a way of life and a space for encounter with the viewer.
