The Ámbito Cultural Santiago Reading Club, coordinated by Miguel García‑Fernández (@lectureo), offers a meeting space for readers in Galician and Spanish around some of the most outstanding voices in contemporary literature. In this session we will welcome Marilar Aleixandre, who will talk with attendees about her novel “As malas mulleres”, awarded the 2020 Blanco Amor Prize and the 2022 National Narrative Prize.

Set in Galicia in the second half of the 19th century, “As malas mulleres” builds a fascinating choral story in which fictional characters intertwine with historical figures such as Concepción Arenal or Juana de Vega. A novel that blends memory, emotion and extraordinary literary richness, establishing itself as one of the most notable works of contemporary Galician narrative.

Marilar Aleixandre is a storyteller, poet, translator and member of the Royal Galician Academy. Her career has been recognized with some of the main awards of Galician literature, making her one of the essential authors of our literary landscape.

A unique opportunity to share the reading of this remarkable novel and talk with its author in a close and participatory atmosphere.
