We invite you to participate in the selection of the winning novel for the Casino de Santiago European Novel Prize.

The Casino de Santiago European Novel Prize promotes reading and the pro-European spirit.

It seeks to make all citizens the judges for a literary prize awarded to writers from European Union countries.

A panel of experts selected five novels from European Union countries:

• With the Left Hand by Xabier Quiroga, Ed. Xerais.
• The Granddaughter by Bernhard Schlink, Ed. Anagrama.
• The Farewells by Jacobo Bergareche, Libros del Asteroide.
• The Singularities by John Banville, Ed. Alfaguara.
• The Kings of the House by Delphine de Vigan, Ed. Anagrama.

From November to April, the Cultural Area Room of El Corte Inglés in Santiago de Compostela hosted the five debates of the finalist novels.

In this final phase, two groups will be eligible to vote:

Section A of the Jury, made up of 10 representatives from different social strata, will vote on April 30th. After this vote, the final vote count will be made, and the Jury's decision will be announced that same day, revealing the winner among the finalists.

Section B, with a weight of 50%, is in the hands of the citizens of the cities of Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, A Coruña, Avilés, Gijón, Oviedo and León (El Corte Inglés – Bookstore Dept.), Logroño, Barcelona, ​​Salamanca, Tudela, Landshut (Germany), Paris (France), Santa Comba Dao (Portugal), Moscow (Russia).

Voting spaces are available at the Public Library network managed by the Xunta de Galicia and the Sociocultural Centers of Santiago de Compostela, other public and private entities in national and international cities, and at the bookstores of El Corte Inglés stores in Vigo, A Coruña, Avilés, Gijón, Oviedo, León, and Santiago de Compostela.

The voting period for Section B will be open from April 24 to May 7, 2025.
