2nd Screening · Cycle “Mitchell Leisen, a Director of Classic Hollywood Comedy”

The Cultural Hall of El Corte Inglés in Málaga presents, on Tuesday 14 April at 7:00 p.m., the second screening of the cycle Mitchell Leisen, a Director of Classic Hollywood Comedy. This session features Death Takes a Holiday (1934), directed by Mitchell Leisen and starring Fredric March, Evelyn Venable, Guy Standing, Katherine Alexander and Gail Patrick. Cinematography is by Charles Lang, with music by Bernhard Kaun. The film runs for 79 minutes.

The story begins with a striking premise: tired of being feared and rejected by humans, Death decides to take human form in order to understand the origin of that fear and discover what binds people so fiercely to life. Based on the play by Alberto Casella, the film later inspired the 1998 movie Meet Joe Black.

The session will be introduced by Dr. Lourdes Jiménez Fernández, coordinator of the cycle.
