The Ámbito Cultural Hall at El Corte Inglés Málaga will host, on Monday 2 March at 7:30 p.m., the presentation of the book Characters of Holy Week in Málaga. Life and Work of 12+1 Cofrades, a work by Andrés Camino Romero that explores the human and devotional history of Málaga’s Holy Week through thirteen essential figures. The event will be presented by writer Enrique Guevara Pérez.

The book is structured into three sections that span from the early 20th century to the first decades of the 21st century, tracing the evolution of Málaga’s Holy Week through its key protagonists:

• 📘 First section: historical figures such as José Cabello Guirado (Sangre), Rafael Porras de Silva (“El Rico”), Juan Navarrete Trujillo (Soledad de San Pablo and Prendimiento), Ricardo Green Nicolau (Sepulcro) and Enrique Llovet Fernández (Pro–Holy Week Commission and Misericordia).
• 🎺 Second section: two emblematic post‑war figures, Sergeant Villegas and the saeta singer María “La Faraona”.
• 📚 Third section: leading figures from the late 20th and early 21st centuries, including P. Felipe Reina, Rodrigo Martín, Trinidad García‑Herrera, Augusto Pansard, Manuel Molina and José Gutiérrez.

The book stands out for bringing together a diverse mosaic of professions and backgrounds —from a day labourer to an IT specialist, including musicians, doctors, archivists, business owners and a flamenco singer— reflecting the human richness that sustains Málaga’s Holy Week and the depth of its cofrade community.
