El Corte Inglés Málaga hosts the first screening of the cycle “William Somerset Maugham, a writer for the screen”, featuring the film “El velo pintado” (The Painted Veil, 2006), on Tuesday, 22 August at 7:30 p.m.

1920s. Kitty (Naomi Watts) is a young Englishwoman from high society who, seeking to escape her family environment, marries Walter (Edward Norton), a promising doctor. The couple moves to Shanghai, where Kitty begins an affair with an American man (Liev Schreiber). When Walter discovers his wife’s infidelity, he decides to take her to one of the most remote regions of China to help combat a deadly cholera epidemic.
