Events in El Corte Inglés Preciados-Callao
“Así Nacen las Canciones” with Xoel López at El Corte Inglés Preciados-Callao
- Date: At june 18
- Schedule: from 19:30 to 21:00
We close our Music Week with one of the major names of the independent scene: Xoel López. With more than twenty years of career behind him —from the young musician who sang in English with the A Coruña‑based Elephant Band, through the now‑legendary and successful Deluxe, to being recognised as Best National Artist at the 2013 Independent Music Awards with Atlántico (Esmerarte, 2012), his first album under his own name after several years travelling across Latin America— Xoel arrives at a defining moment.
He lands in our venue to bring the final flourish to this celebration of music, and he does so with his brand‑new album Oniria popular (2026), a work as unexpected as it is personal, born almost organically and deeply connected to his creative universe.
Xoel will be in conversation with Fernando Neira, music critic for El País and Cadena SER, in Así nacen las canciones, and we will enjoy a selection of his songs.
- - 18 June at 19:30 h
- - In‑person attendance until full capacity is reached

About Xoel López
Xoel López is undoubtedly one of the most solid and representative musical artists of the Ibero‑American independent scene. After more than 20 years of career, his music is defined by the authenticity of its landscapes: each album is an exercise in creative freedom and, at the same time, an almost biographical chapter. His discography traces his journey —travels, discoveries, encounters, nostalgia and musical influences. From the young singer performing in English with Elephant Band in A Coruña, through the iconic and successful Deluxe, to being recognised as Best National Artist at the 2013 Independent Music Awards with Atlántico.
Si mi rayo te alcanzara (Sony Music Spain under licence from Esmerarte), his fifteenth album, was released on 27 November 2020. For the first time, he handed over production duties to Carles Campi Campón.
At the 38th Goya Awards, held on 10 February 2024, Xoel was nominated for Best Original Song for Eco, composed for Javier Veiga’s film Amigos hasta la muerte. In addition, at the 16th Independent Music Awards he won Best Pop Album for Caldo Espírito.
Oniria popular is Xoel’s seventeenth studio album, in which he continues to explore introspection, identity and human emotion. In his own words, it is “a record that bursts forth all at once, unplanned, appearing without being chased — like true love.”
The album presents itself as fresh and reflective, intimate and collective. Its lyrics and melodies dream and take flight, yet remain grounded, shaping a contemporary pop sound that dialogues with tradition and folklore.
There is no better way to close this week.
