Ámbito Cultural of Santiago de Compostela hosts the exhibition “Toma castaña. Galicia”, an initiative of the General Directorate of Natural Heritage of the Xunta de Galicia, which seeks to highlight the extensive and valuable natural heritage of Galician forests.

24 information panels are presented in the two sections comprising the Galician Catalogue of Singular Trees: trees (18) and formations (4). Within each of these sections, the display follows the chronological order in which they were included in the catalogue.

The exhibition opens with the Castiñeiro da Capela, located in the church of Baamonde, Begonte, Lugo, followed by another 17. The Castiñeiro de Ramil, 850 years old, is located on the French Way, 1km from Triacastela, Lugo, or the Castiñeiro de Cerdedelo, located in the village of the same place, Laza, Ourense, as the tallest, with 31.10 m., are some of the specimens that make up the exhibition, along with the outstanding tree formations: Fraga de Catasós, located in Lalín, Pontevedra; Souto de Rozavales, located in Manzaneda, Ourense; Castiñeiros de Os Blancos, located in Os Blancos, Ourense and Souto da Ruibal, located in Folgoso do Caurel, Lugo.

Ámbito Cultural shows its support for Galicia's natural heritage, aware that what is unknown is not cared for or appreciated.

The exhibition can be visited during business hours, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., from July 15 to September 6.
