María Oruña signs “La Cámara de las Maravillas”

On Thursday, 1 October at 6:30 p.m., writer María Oruña will be signing copies of her book “La Cámara de las Maravillas” at the bookstore of El Corte Inglés Vigo (5th floor).

About “La Cámara de las Maravillas”

In the majestic Palacio Dorado, located in the centre of Madrid, the most select figures of the art world gather for the inauguration of Pentimento, a museum that displays reproductions of iconic artworks in the context where they were first exhibited. Amanda Mendoza, the host, watches one of the guests with suspicion: the enigmatic Dimas Chevalier, Europe’s most famous gentleman thief, who—after several years in prison—claims to be fully reformed.

Meanwhile, a shadowy figure moves swiftly across the palace roof and enters the Cámara de las Maravillas, a room where the Mendoza family keeps its most fascinating treasures. But when the intruder attempts to escape with the loot, he collapses suddenly, with no apparent cause. Dimas, indirectly accused of the theft, is forced to work with Amanda to clear his name and uncover who has violated the Cámara de las Maravillas.

About María Oruña (Vigo, 1976)

María Oruña worked for ten years as a lawyer and now devotes herself exclusively to literature. Her books have been translated into ten languages and have surpassed one million readers.

Her novels blend history, mystery and science, and she deliberately explores different literary styles that have captivated thousands of readers. In 2015 she published the first book of what would become the renowned Puerto Escondido saga, now composed of six titles, each presenting an independent mystery solved by the same team of investigators. The series is set in Cantabria and has been published in full by Destino (Planeta), achieving remarkable commercial success and critical acclaim for its narrative quality: Puerto escondido (2015), Un lugar a donde ir (2017), Donde fuimos invencibles (2018), Lo que la marea esconde (2021), El camino del fuego (2022) and Los inocentes (2023).

In 2020, she published the standalone historical mystery El bosque de los cuatro vientos (Ediciones Destino, Planeta), set in the forests of Ourense in her native Galicia.

In March 2025, with Plaza & Janés (Penguin Random House), she released «El Albatros Negro», a historical mystery novel with a striking synopsis that pays homage to the adventure stories of Stevenson, Doyle and Jules Verne. The book received an immediate positive response from readers, booksellers and critics.

In June 2026, Plaza & Janés published her latest novel, La Cámara de las Maravillas.
