As part of the Back to School campaign, the Ámbito Cultural hall at El Corte Inglés Santiago de Compostela is hosting an informative talk on coeliac disease in school centres. Organised in collaboration with the Asociación de Celíacos de Galicia (ACEGA), this session offers an opportunity to better understand coeliac disease and learn how to help make educational environments safer for the children who live with it.

The talk will explain what coeliac disease is and why a gluten‑free diet is currently its only treatment. It will also provide practical guidelines to prevent cross‑contact in classrooms, dining halls and school activities, along with recommendations on materials and habits that help minimise risks in educational settings.

Aimed at families, teachers, school staff and anyone interested in this topic, the session will address key issues to promote safe coexistence at school and raise awareness of the needs of coeliac students.

The talk will be delivered by Nuria Colmenero, head of the Department of Catering and Food Safety at the Asociación de Celíacos de Galicia (ACEGA).
