The Ámbito Cultural Santiago Reading Club celebrates its second session as a cultural initiative designed to promote reading, build community and bring contemporary literature closer to the public. This is a monthly club that will regularly feature the participation of current authors whose works are published both in Galician and in Spanish.

On this occasion, the session focuses on the novel “Asasinato no muíño do cura” (Galaxia) / “Asesinato en el molino del cura” (Lumen), by writer Arantza Portabales, one of the key voices in contemporary Galician crime fiction.

The session will feature the presence of the author herself, who will take part in an open conversation with the audience to discuss the book, its characters and the narrative universe that launches the saga “Os crimes de Loeiro”, starring detective Iria Santaclara and retired commissioner César Araujo. A crime silenced since 1984, a pact of silence among neighbours and a gripping ending shape a story marked by memory, buried violence and the search for truth.

The Ámbito Cultural Santiago Reading Club is moderated by historian and communicator Miguel García‑Fernández, @lectureo (As Guístolas, 1988), a researcher at the Instituto de Estudos Galegos Padre Sarmiento (CSIC–Xunta de Galicia), specialised in medieval history and women’s history, and one of the most active reading mediators in the Galician cultural scene, both on and off social media. His experience and ability to guide discussion turn each session into a rigorous, dynamic and accessible space for conversation.

The Ámbito Cultural Santiago Reading Club aims to establish itself as a cultural reference point in Santiago de Compostela, open to readers of all profiles through participatory meetings, literary analysis and proposals adapted to today’s cultural landscape.
